Stansted Airport is the UK's third largest airport with over 23 million passengers travelling to 165 destinations in 32 different countries. Some 22 flight airlines operate scheduled flights in and out of Stansted in addition to a host of charter airlines. Some low-cost operators have made Stansted their base leading to the massive expansion in traffic which Stansted has experienced in recent years.
Access to the airport is swift with a direct link to the M11 motorway for those travelling by car. For those travelling by train, Stansted has its own station immediately below the airport with the Stansted Express direct into Liverpool Street Station within 46 minutes. Every hour trains leave for other destinations such as Cambridge, Pewterborough, Leicester and the Midlands.
Similarly, coach access is available directly from central London as well as other parts of the UK.
Of course, Stansted is not simply an airport. Stansted stands in one of the most picturesque parts of South East England with easy access to the countryside of Essex, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire. Also, not far from Stansted stands the English Heritage site of Mount fitchet which is a reconstruction of a hill fort which dates back to Iron Age times.
