Coventry, a hidden gem for conferences
With a great deal of conference venue choice, Coventry is a city which celebrates both the old and the new - perfect for a meeting or corporate event. Stroll through the centre and you'll walk through over 1000 years of history, from the medieval charm of Spon Street to the architectural innovation of Millennium Place. Indeed, Coventry is one of those cities that has kept a feeling of intimacy, despite being home to some substantial multi-national companies and the conference and meeting facilities they demand. Unfairly therefore, Coventry is sometimes overlooked, perhaps due to the proximity of its larger neighbour Birmingham, but it offers every facility from small meeting rooms to large purpose built conference venues.
Coventry is also a respected academic centre, boasting two universities, Warwick and Coventry itself. Those Universities doubtless explain the city's youthful outlook and varied night-life, but they also add considerably to the cultural life of the city and its standing on the world stage.
Outside of the city there are plenty of activities to refresh and revive. One of the country's largest sports shooting centres is nearby and in addition to clay pigeons, its 90 acre site offers off-roading, hovercraft, and even the chance to drive a genuine armoured personnel carrier.
Coventry was the birthplace of the British car industry (The Coventry Transport Museum has the largest collection of British road transport in the world), so whilst it's not surprising that its road connections are excellent, its rail and air links are equally as good with its own international airport.
